The Bangladesh Army is performing security duties at the Bangladesh Secretariat, the heart of the administration.
Going to the secretariat on Tuesday (August 6), it was seen that the army personnel were performing security duties at the gate of the secretariat. All the gates are closed except gate number one of the secretariat along with pass closure for security. Army personnel stand at gate number one and allow vehicles to enter after verifying their identity. Army personnel are also present in the visitor reception room.
No policemen were seen anywhere in the secretariat. However, the army was seen assisting the policemen in civilian clothes.
It has been seen that the presence of officials and employees is very normal. Employees were seen discussing at various places in the secretariat.
Meanwhile, pro-BNP officials and employees have started reporting themselves in the secretariat. Around 11 am, 30-35 pro-BNP workers were seen in front of building number 6. Long banners were put up at the Secretariat in the past few days to mark the National Day of Mourning. But they have all been taken off.
An officer in charge of the security of the secretariat said that everything has started to return to normal.
