The night will culminate in the quadrantids, a powerful meteor shower that occurs in early January and peaks on the night of January 3-4. It is a meter no less rich than the other two meters that occur throughout the year, and it can reach a rate of about 120 meteors per hour.
This year the moon will be close to Christmas at the time of the rain, so its light will not interfere with watching the cosmic show. The rain is expected to start at 22:40, and its peak is expected to be around midnight Israel time.
It is a meteor shower that is among the three strongest regular showers during the year, the other two are the Perseid meteorites and the Geminids. The quadrantids are so named because they look like they are coming from an area in the sky where the constellation Quadrance Moralis used to be. Today their radiant point is in the north of the constellation Arcturus.
The origin of the meter is probably in the comet C / 1385U1. Unlike the Perseid and Geminid meteorites, the projection point of the quadrantite meteorites is north of Israel.
The fact that the rain occurs in winter probably does not add to its popularity, both because of the chance of cloudiness and also because of the cold, but if you have warm clothes and a desire to go on a night adventure – quadrant meteorites can provide an amazing experience, if cloudy conditions allow.
