The Peasant Markets return in Medellín 2024-02-16 16:55:09

by time news

The traditional strategy of Peasant Markets consists of consolidating spaces for family integration and strengthening the relationship between the countryside and the city, from which more than 550 farmers benefit: 250 directly and 300 indirectly.

“Promoting short marketing circuits, which improve the income level of the peasant population and increase agricultural productivity, is the objective of this traditional city program. Furthermore, Mercados Campesinos allows for greater equity in the distribution of profits, generated throughout the marketing chain of producers in the agricultural sector,” said the Secretary of Economic Development, María Fernanda Galeano Rojo.

This year it will be held again on Saturdays and Sundays, in 20 parks and central locations in Medellín, and each month it will arrive with its showcase at the La Alpujarra square. The mobile modality will go up to 10 residential units in the city. In addition, the participation of public or private entities will be added that may request these retail sales spaces for their employees or internal public, or even place orders for wholesale products when adequate volumes are available for sale.
