It involves personal data, but not banking information. The pension insurance had data about 370,000 people stolen, he said in a press release this Friday. The theft occurred through an Internet portal intended for social service providers for retirees.

“Personal data (address, social security number, approximate amount of resources), relating to approximately 370,000 beneficiaries, has been compromised,” indicated the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav). “Most of the data is old: some of the affected people have, for example, died,” he said.

“No banking data, no data related to salary, pension, employment or paid benefits has been compromised,” he added.

Data is already available for reuse

The information is stolen by hackers of service providers using the portal. This, called the Community Action Partners Portal, was put out of service by Cnav, which “offers its apologies to the people affected by the accident”.

As a forum specializing in the recycling of data resulting from hacking, data stolen from Cnav is for sale on an account which also offers stolen data from the brands Truffaut, Cultura and Boulanger.

According to Cnav, the incident has been reported to the CNIL (National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties), and the people involved “will be informed”.
