“The results of our investigation show that the strike was a tragic mistake … We apologize and we will try to learn from this terrible mistake,” he said.

The airstrike became known on August 29, the Pentagon then said that the attack was carried out on the car of a suicide bomber of the Islamic State group (IS; terrorist organization, banned in Russia). As it became known later, 43-year-old Zemari Ahmadi, who worked for the charity organization Nutrition and Education International, was killed in the impact, as well as nine other people, including seven children.

The Pentagon also said that it is studying the issue of compensation for the families of the killed Kabulis during this operation.
