Today, Tuesday, 5.18 million Jordanians are going to the polls to elect their twentieth parliament, with 1,634 candidates competing in each district, under the supervision of the Independent Electoral Commission.

Among the party lists and party alliances, there were 697 male and female candidates on the general list, including 505 males and 192 females, while the number of candidates in the local constituencies reached 937 male and female candidates, including including 747 male candidates and 190 female candidates. .

The number of lists applying for candidacy reached 172 lists at the local constituency level, while the number of lists running for the general party district reached 25 lists.

Regarding the polling and counting centers for the 2024 parliamentary elections, including 18 constituencies, the total number of polling and counting centers reached 1,649 centers, in which 5,843 ballot and counting boxes will be distributed, based on the provisions of Section (A). of Article 29 of the Election Law for the House of Representatives No. 4 of the year 2022, which requires the authority to issue a decision specifying the polling and counting centers in each constituency, showing the number of ballot boxes and counting boxes in each center. , at least ten days before the date of the poll.

These are the first elections in the country, following the constitutional amendments approved by the Jordanian Parliament in January 2022, on electoral and party laws.
