The Libyan People’s Voice Party announced, in an official statement, “its rejection of the outcomes of the Abu Znika meeting,” calling for “the formation of a unified technocratic government.”
The party said in its statement: “In light of the current political challenges, the People’s Voice Party declares its categorical rejection of the outcomes of the Abu Znika meeting between the House of Representatives and the State Council, and considers them an extension of the Skhirat and Geneva Agreements that contributed to legitimizing the survival of outgoing political bodies.”
He added: “We stress the need to overcome these agreements that did not lead to radical solutions, but rather contributed to deepening the political crisis in our country.
The party continued: “Therefore, we renew our call to form a committee that includes representatives of the political parties, trade and professional unions, and the cultural and social components of the Amazigh, Arabs, Tuareg, Tebu, and civil society activists. This committee aims to choose a small, unified government of technocrats for a period of 18 months, which will be in charge of The following tasks: supervising the drafting of a new constitution within a period not exceeding 6 months, and preparing and supervising legislative and presidential elections within a period not exceeding 16 months.”
The party’s statement stressed that “this initiative comes within the framework of our efforts to enhance political stability in Libya and ensure broad participation from various components of Libyan society in the political process.”
The party also warned the United Nations Political Support Mission in Libya, member states of the UN Security Council, and all regional neighboring countries, against taking unilateral political initiatives to impose an international guardianship government on the Libyan people.
The party added in its statement: “We emphasize that the solutions must be Libyan-Libyan, with the participation of all national parties, without external interference, and we call on everyone who wishes to participate in this national initiative to communicate with the Libyan Party Gathering and the People’s Voice Party for coordination and joint work, with the aim of Achieving success for this initiative.”
The statement concluded by saying: “We are certain that Libya deserves true national leadership, capable of overcoming challenges and building a stable democratic state that preserves the rights of all its people.”
Earlier, the House of Representatives published the final statement of the joint meeting of members of the House of Representatives and the State House, which was held in the Kingdom of Morocco.
