The People’s Voice Party announced its refusal to use the security-room-reaches-the-ras-jadeer-crossing-and-trabelsi-promises-to-reopen-it-before-eid/” title=”The security room reaches the Ras Jadeer crossing, and Trabelsi promises to reopen it before Eid”>illegal immigration file to make concessions to the European Union or to achieve narrow political gains, stressing that the security of Libya and the interests of its people must be above all considerations.
This came in a statement by the party, a copy of which was obtained by Eye Libya, regarding the scientific symposium on migration governance between security and development approaches in the Mediterranean, which was held in the city of Benghazi last month.
The statement stressed that the illegal immigration issue is a national security issue that is not subject to political disputes or international concessions, and that the security of Libya and the safety of its citizens require serious cooperation from all concerned parties, without any compromise on the state’s sovereignty or the rights of its people.
The People’s Voice Party noted that the issue of illegal immigration must be dealt with in accordance with the national constants that reject settlement, and in accordance with national legislation, and that any attempts to impose external agendas on Libya, or to change its national identity, cannot be allowed.
The party called for the unification of security institutions to confront the challenges resulting from illegal immigration, stressing that this dangerous issue can only be confronted through a unified effort that brings together all security agencies in the country, under one leadership.
The party also called for unified visions among all state institutions that help combat illegal immigration, and no progress can be achieved in this file without a unified political will that believes in the seriousness of the situation and acknowledges the necessity of resolving it radically.
The party concluded its statement by emphasizing that resolving the illegal immigration crisis requires a comprehensive national strategy that takes into account all political, legal, security, social and economic aspects, and stressed the need for all Libyan parties to cooperate, from the government, civil society and the private sector, to confront this dangerous challenge.
