A convict in the Coimbatore Central Jail in a case of possession of counterfeit notes died due to ill health.

Subhaiyan, 70, hails from Namakkal district Paramathi Veluar taluk Nanjai Idiara. He was arrested by CPCID police in a counterfeit note case registered in 2006. His case was tried in Salem Court. After being convicted, he was lodged in Coimbatore Central Jail from March 2020. He suffered a heart attack on the morning of August 2. After receiving first aid treatment at the prison hospital, he was admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. There he died without treatment. According to Jailer Sivarajan’s complaint, Coimbatore Racecourse Inspector Shanthamurthy is investigating.
