Siness revolves around oil production, we recognize that corporate responsibility extends beyond our immediate industry. As a major player in the Libyan economy, we have a moral obligation to invest in the communities in which we operate. Healthy communities contribute to a stable and prosperous environment for all sectors, including our own. Investing in healthcare is a key aspect of fostering social well-being and economic stability, and it aligns with our commitment to sustainable development.

Editor: That’s a valid point. The equipment you provided includes both general and specialized medical devices. How do you determine which equipment is most needed by hospitals like Amhamed Al-Magarif?

Dr. Al-Salem: We conduct thorough assessments in collaboration with hospital officials and local health authorities. Their insights are invaluable in identifying needs specific to their patient population. For instance, hospitals often require state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, like digital X-ray or CT machines, to keep pace with modern medical standards. Our aim is to respond to those identified needs directly, ensuring that our support is both relevant and beneficial.

Editor: With the delivery of such advanced medical equipment, what changes can the residents of Ajdabiya expect in terms of healthcare services?

Dr. Al-Salem: The community can expect a significant enhancement in the range and quality of services available. With the new diagnostic and treatment capabilities, areas like emergency care, specialized surgeries, and outpatient services will improve remarkably. This means patients will have access to advanced care locally, which is vital for their health outcomes. Moreover, these changes should alleviate some of the burdens on facilities in larger cities.

Editor: Looking beyond Ajdabiya, what are some of the overarching goals of the Sustainable Development Department at the National Oil Corporation?

Dr. Al-Salem: Our overarching goal is to strengthen health infrastructure across Libya. This includes not only hospitals but also clinics and healthcare outreach programs.
