The Bulgarian school of gymnastics has not lost its position in the world.
Proof of this is the desire of the Philippines to attract Krasimir Dunev to coach Carlos Yulo, who at the Paris Games became the champion on floor and vault. The previous Olympic gold medal for this country went to the weightlifter Idilyn Dias, champion in cat. up to 55 kg at the 2021 Tokyo Games.
Dunev’s decision to decline the post was mainly due to his duty as the chairman of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation. Our former star is already working on the organization of the first balkaniad in gymnastics in 30 years, which will take place on September 16 in the small hall of “Arena Sofia”.
Carlos Yulo has predictably become a national hero in the Philippines. He received a two-bedroom apartment worth $415,000 from the government and a lifetime supply of ramen (a traditional noodle soup in this region of the world). The champion also received a cash prize of $173,000 from the Sports Commission of the Philippines and another $52,000 from the House of Representatives. Yulo will be able to consult a gastroenterologist free of charge and, if necessary, undergo a colonoscopy after reaching the age of 45.
The Philippines continues to search for a national team coach.
The variants were the famous Bulgarian (probably Dunev), a Spaniard and a Japanese. The Japanese will probably be preferred.
It was a Japanese man who took three gold medals, one more than the Filipino at the Paris Olympics. Shinozuke Oka won the team, individual all-around and pole vault titles, plus a bronze on parallel bars.
