The Pick Szeged team really needed the success against Veszprém

Szeged and Veszprém met each other for the fifth time in the 2022-2023 season, and the fourth time within twenty-four days. The current form and the results so far were in favor of the guests, but with more extra performances and together with their audience kept the two points at home a Pick.

– We deserved to win, we needed such a success, especially the way we achieved it – stressed Juan Carlos Pastor, head coach of Szeged, at the beginning of his press conference. – Psychologically, this success means a lot for our team and our fans, as we had to pull ourselves together after a bad Champions League match and cup final – noted the Spanish specialist.

Pastor said that they are continuing their previous philosophy, that is, they are currently preparing for the next match. Tough meetings await Szeged, after they have won these and the regular season, then they can prepare for the championship final.

Momir Ilics congratulated Szeged on its well-deserved success.

– We didn’t play handball well, we made a lot of mistakes and gave away a lot of balls. At the same time, I don’t blame my players because they did everything to win. Now our task is to prepare for the BL quarter-finals, we hope for the best with our fantastic team – said the head coach of Telekom Veszprém.

Miklós Rosta, who performed brilliantly in attack and scored nine goals out of ten shots, remarked with a smile that it is much better to evaluate the things experienced after such a winning match.

The goalkeeper of the guests, Vladimir Cupara, spoke succinctly about the lost championship. He said that the match brought a manly fight, but they have to admit that it was not their best match. He then spoke about the Hungarian Cup gold medal, which is why they are still happy, and highlighted that they won against Szeged four out of five times this season.

OTP Bank-Pick Szeged will play in the Pick Arena again next time. Next Saturday, at 6 p.m., Fejér-BÁL Veszprém will be their opponent, which they defeated at home 41-28 in the quarter-finals of the Hungarian Cup.
