The text of the program contract between the Ministry of Culture, the Region of Epirus, the development company “Epiros S.A.”, “Diazoma” and the Organization for the Management and Development of Cultural Resources (ODA) is currently being processed. This was made known by the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, during her greeting during the work of the 16th General Assembly of the “Diazoma” Association, which took place from Thursday to Sunday in Epirus, based in the city of Arta, and had as its subject “Epirus 10 years later!”.
The goal, through the programming contract, is to activate all parties to ensure accessibility to all five archaeological sites of the theaters and a high level of quality of services provided within the archaeological sites and along the Route, as mentioned by Ms. Mendoni, noting that the case of Epirus is a positive example in the effort to develop an integrated spatial approach to monuments.
“The culture sector, together with the primary sector, must have a leading role. A heritage cut off from society is a schooling heritage”, Ms. Mendoni noted among others.
With the restoration work of the ancient theaters in full progress and a large part already implemented, the next step, as the president of “Diazoma” Stavros Benos has mentioned many times, is the functionality of the route, its sustainability and establishment of evaluation indicators.
In the framework of the general assembly, the members of the “Diazoma” visited all five ancient Theaters of Epirus and ascertained the progress of the works.
