On Monday, September 23, the body of a man born in 1973 with signs of violent death was found in an apartment in Cēsi county, Līgatne. State police officials responded to the scene and found the man with serious injuries, including a wound to the head, which may have caused his death.
During the investigation at the scene, it was established that a conflict broke out between two men while drinking alcohol. As a result, a man born in 2004 caused serious bodily harm to a man born in 1973, causing his death.
Vaksane states that the persons were known to each other, and the two men had previously come to the attention of the police for various violations.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the incident according to the third part of Article 125 of the Criminal Law for intentional infliction of severe bodily harm that caused the death of the victim. For this crime, the law provides for deprivation of liberty for a period of three to 15 years, with or without confiscation of property, as well as with or without probation supervision for a period of up to three years.
The court has applied a security measure to the suspect – detention.
