Tiruvarur: A person involved in the Tiruvarur murder case was shot dead near Mallipattanam in Thanjavur district.
Rajkumar (34) hails from Bhuvanur village near Needamangalam in Tiruvarur district. More than twenty cases including murder are pending against him, who is the regional youth secretary of the budding Tamil Nadu party.
Meanwhile, who had arrived at Tiruvarur District Unified Court along with four of his supporters on Friday to appear in a case, while he was driving through Kamalapuram after the trial, an oncoming Scorpio rammed into Rajkumar’s car causing an accident. The occupants of the car were reportedly unable to get out as the doors were locked.
When Rajkumar got out of the car alone, a gang of 8 men, armed with machetes, chased him from a Scorpio car. When Rajkumar tried to escape by entering a house, they hacked his head and legs and killed him.
After this, District Superintendent of Police Suresh Kumar, who came to the spot in person, formed three separate teams and intensified the search for the criminals.
In this situation, within 12 hours of the murder incident, the police have arrested five persons namely Stalin Bharati aged 32, Veerapandian aged 29, Surya aged 21, Govt aged 20 and Madhavan aged 21 from Needamangalam Kahamathi village of Tiruvarur district.
Separate teams were formed under the leadership of Inspector Jagatheeswaran Rajesh Ilango and searched for the rest of the criminals.
Also, the police have said that this massacre has taken place as a revenge for the assassination of Needamangalam CBI Union Secretary Natesan Tamilarvan, who was beheaded on Needamangalam shop street on 11.10.2021. It is to be noted that Stalin Bharti, who has been arrested, is the son of Natesa Tamilarvan.
Meanwhile, the accused in this murder case is Ravi from Alagiri Colony, Thiruvarur, Dhangsaur District.
According to a secret information received near Mallipattanam Manora under Setupavasatram police limit, the police led by Inspector Rajesh, Sandalmedu Police, Mayiladuthurai District.
