Four months after the tragedy, it is not known who is responsible for the fatal mass accident on the M1, according to RTL News. In March, 41 vehicles collided during a huge dust storm on the road near Herceghalom. 39 people were injured and one person died.
After the mass accident, criminal proceedings were initiated against an unknown perpetrator. The police asked motorists, if they have information or video of the accident, to send it to them. The police received 83 reports, motorists sent 6 videos and 15 photos to an e-mail address specially created for this purpose, and the investigators interviewed 30 witnesses.
The police informed RTL that no one was suspected in the tragedy.
A few hours before the mass accident, there was another one on the side of the highway heading towards Budapest due to the dust storm, but no one initiated the closure of the track. The channel also contacted the company that operates the highway, which wrote that they cannot complete their own internal investigation until the police investigation is completed.
