MADRID, 4 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Polisario Front delegate in Spain, Abdulá Arabi, denounced this Sunday the “violent” and “unjustified” expulsion on Saturday of two Spanish lawyers, Inés Miranda and Lola Travieso, from the territory of Western Sahara by the Moroccan authorities.

“Morocco did not even allow the two lawyers to get off the plane at the El Aaiún airport from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria,” Arabi said in a statement.

Faced with this situation, the Polisario Front “strongly condemns” this “new attempt by Morocco to safeguard the most absolute opacity in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara” and conveys its “solidarity” to Miranda and Travieso.

“With this reprehensible act, the Kingdom of Morocco agrees once again with the Saharawi people, and with all those people convinced of the legitimate rights of the Saharawi people”, he added.

Arabi recalled that Miranda and Travieso are members of the International Association of Jurists for Western Sahara (IAJUWS) and that they participated in an observation mission whose main objective was to investigate the complaints of “serious violations of Human Rights made by Saharawi activists and relatives of Saharawi political prisoners”.

“With this action, the Kingdom of Morocco has demonstrated its desire to hide the reality in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara, where it systematically violates the Human Rights of the Saharawi civilian population, in contravention of International Law”, Arabi pointed out.

The representative of the Polisario Front stressed that the visit had been communicated to the highest Spanish and UN authorities, including its Secretary General, António Guterres.

The General Council of Spanish Lawyers denounced on Saturday before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the expulsion of the two lawyers by the Moroccan authorities “without any kind of justifiable cause”.

The Lawyers consider that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by José Manuel Albares should formulate a written complaint to Morocco for preventing these two lawyers from entering.
