The infamous video game leaker Golden snitch Abandon riddles and opt out of rumours. The notorious detective has unleashed a plethora of cryptic clues to a variety of games, covering everything from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion remaster up to Monster Hunter Rising, an imminent conversion to PS5 and PS4. His track record was so impeccable, though as his reputation grew, his ratings became increasingly murky — at times, annoyingly so. But now, his five minutes of internet fame is over!

In an interview with Game Insiders, he said “leaking new ads isn’t fun anymore,” and that he’ll be spending his time on his Discord server instead. There was speculation that The Snitch had backdoor access to a platform like YouTube, so he could watch private videos as they were uploaded by major publishers. “It’s a fun theory,” he said in response to the idea.

Al-Washi said his leaks were never malicious and only targeted major publishers: “I am very aware of the damage even a small, simple leak can do to the work of people who have spent months or years on a game.. In fact, we can say that I have dedicated myself to giving hints to users.” So they can speculate, rather than direct leaks. This is going to sound narcissistic and depressing, but I’m sure I helped even some of my juveniles gain more visibility.

Of course, video game rumors never go away, and there’s no doubt that eventually someone will emerge to fill The Snitch’s place. But for now, the hidden clues and puzzles have been put on ice.
