Burkinabe population urged to be wary of so-called natural products with aphrodisiac effects
Ouagadougou, March 17, 2023 (AIB) – The National Agency in charge of health security (ANSSEAT, ex LNSP), invites the people of Burkina Faso to be “increased vigilance” in the face of so-called natural medicines, supposed to improve sexual performance and boost physical effort, at the risk of contracting cardiovascular diseases.
The proliferation of certain so-called natural products, for therapeutic use, supposed to boost physical effort and above all to improve sexual activity, would represent one of the causes of the increase in diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases, among young and old people, we read. in a statement published Friday by the public daily Sidwaya.

The investigations carried out by ANSSEAT revealed the presence of active ingredients of pharmaceutical drugs in large quantities, in particular hormones with a doping effect, anti-inflammatories with an analgesic effect (painkiller) and sildenafil (chemical molecule of “Viagra “), indicates the press release.
“These formulations, which are made without declaration, registration or control with the authorized health authorities, constitute a danger for consumers”, insists Pr Elie Kabré.
“Faced with this deception served to consumers, ANSSEAT (formerly LNSP) remains available to collect for exploitation all information relating to these fraudulent and compromising practices for the health of Burkinabè”, concluded its Director General.
