The Port of Algeciras awards a study to remodel the north access

In order to expedite the entry and exit of trucks, the Algeciras Bay Port Authority (spain) has awarded Mc Valnera a study of alternatives to remodel the north access. The project will involve a cost of 75,033.19 euros and will have a completion period of 166 days.

And it is that, the northern access to the Algeciran enclave is known for being one of the main land access routes for rolled merchandise that circulates through the terminals of the Andalusian port area. Due to the fact that some types of traffic that use the road as an access route have grown significantly, efficient management of access control and exit of goods has become difficult. For this reason, they want to provide the northern access with more exit lanes and improvements in automation.

In this sense, the Port Authority is carrying out different actions, some of a more strategic nature, such as promoting rail traffic instead of conventional road traffic, and others to improve existing facilities or their management, integrating advanced information processing systems. to expedite the necessary procedures for the control of vehicles and merchandise.

However, the restricted space that is available and a current disposition of the existing infrastructure that does not agree with the requirements established for the benefits or the level of service that is currently being provided, make it necessary to analyze in greater depth action alternatives that optimize the operation of the control.

On the other hand, the Port of Algeciras has launched an application for mobile devices designed for passengers from the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa, which optimizes the quality of service and improves passenger and merchandise transit through port facilities.
