The Port Authority of Castellón (spain) has received a total of seven offers to carry out the execution of twenty dust-trap screen modules in plot B1 of the south basin of the port area. This is an initiative that takes care of the environment in bulk operations.
Among the companies that have submitted their proposals to this tender are Aceroi Alcasser, Becsa, Civicons Construcciones Públicas, Crisol Obras y Servicios, Gimecons Construcciones y Contratas, Levantina Ingeniería y Construcción and Pavasal Empresa Constructora.
Through this project, the works of the new dust trap screen systems will be defined and the technical characteristics of the materials that will be used will be evaluated, in order to have an effective and efficient system.
Those responsible for the enclave consider that the proposed semi-permeable windbreak screen system is an effective measure to eliminate the spread of dust to other areas and is an alternative system to solid structures.
According to the Port Authority, this windbreak screen system performs better than a solid structure due to the porous fabrics specially designed for wind reduction.
Approximately 30% of the wind passes through the fabric, reducing the pressure differential between both sides of the screen, since they modify the speed and turbulence of the incident wind, creating a more or less calm zone of current where both the average wind speed as turbulence are less than that of the incident wind.
The new compartments will be implemented in plot B1 of the southern dock of the port of Castellón, just followed by the twenty modules that were installed in 2021. The initiative has an execution period of three months, a bidding base budget of 416,882, 57 euros and an estimated contract value of 344,531.05 euros.
On the other hand, the Port of Castellón has awarded the contract to carry out the tasks corresponding to an external technical office for its urbanization projects of the south dock to the Valencian company Urbanistas Ingenieros, Urbinsa, for an amount of 62,436 euros and a term of seven month run.
