The Port Authority of Ferrol-San Cibrao (Spain) has advanced in the development of the project to build a central car park in Curuxeiras, in collaboration with the Xunta de Galicia, with the aim of improving mobility on the seafront.

In this context, the board of directors has approved the concession of warehouse number three, property of the Port Authority and currently used for freight traffic, to Pérez Torres Marítima.

So, the company will be in charge of renovating and adapting the warehouse to convert it into a workshop, maintenance space and staff quarters. This relocation will free up the three warehouses currently in use, which will be demolished to make way for the construction of the central parking lot and will become the property of the Port Authority.

Specifically, the warehouse awarded to Pérez Torres covers 2,287 m² distributed over two floors, and the adaptation works must begin within a maximum period of two months. Likewise, the concession has a duration of 15 years, facilitating the continuation of the reorganization process of the inland port of Ferrol.

At the same meeting, the board of directors approved the incorporation of a new consignee to the port community: Miller y Compañía, SA, based in Las Palmas. This company will provide commercial consignment services for ships and goods in the port of Ferrol, bringing the total number of consignees operating in the Port Authority’s docks to 16.

In addition, it was agreed to extend the contract to Remolcadores Ría de Ferrol to continue providing the port towing service in the port of Coruña.

On the other hand, the board of directors of the Port of Ferrol has given its approval to the request presented by Green Procesoil to carry out improvements in its facilities in the Ferrol enclave.
