The Port Authority of Huelva (Spain) is carrying out a complete update of the lighting installations, with the aim of raising the quality of service, improving efficiency in energy consumption and optimizing lighting control through its integration into the current management system.

In this context, due to the growth in energy demands in the area of ​​solid bulk docks in recent years, the aim is to make the most of the existing infrastructure to provide the terminal with a highly efficient source of electrical energy with significant savings. energetic.

Therefore, those responsible for the port in Huelva aim to carry out the design, calculation and sizing of the electrical installation and lighting system. This includes the construction of two new lighting towers, as well as the complete parameterization and control of the luminaires, integrating them into the current platform of the Port Authority of Huelva.

The main purpose of these actions is to improve efficiency in energy use and reduce light pollution. At the same time, the problem of obsolescence of current technology is addressed and shady areas in port operations are put to an end. Specifically, the work has been assigned to the company Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas, Sice, for an amount of 595,854.08 euros and with an execution period of six months.

The work includes the installation of two new lighting towers in previously unlit areas inside the solid bulk terminal, as well as the replacement of the existing lighting inside the terminal and on the Mineral Dock dock, which It is an area adjacent to the main entrance of the terminal. Some specific areas of the coastal highway and access to the oil tanker dock are also covered.

In addition, this project includes the development of a management and monitoring system, the installation of two new sets of rollers on the towers as necessary, and the pre-installation and subsequent placement of wiring for various services.

On the other hand, the II Conference on environmental sustainability and port management of the Port of Huelva has concluded, bringing together more than 40 environmental experts and leaders of the port industry to discuss current challenges and opportunities.
