The Port of Malaga receives the baptism of two cruise ships

The Malaga Port Authority (spain) will become this week the scene of the baptism of two cruise ships, the ‘Marella Voyager’ and the ‘Scenic Eclipse II’. Although both events are focused on different audiences, they have selected the Andalusian coast to celebrate their traditional ceremony.

The first event corresponding to the ship Marella Voyager was held on May 31, which belongs to the British company Marella Cruises and focuses mainly on trips to Europe, the Caribbean and Asia.

The vessel, whose premiere is this month of June on different itineraries through the Caribbean, the Canary Islands and the Western Mediterranean, is 262 meters long, has 13 decks, 952 cabins and can hold up to 2,681 passengers. The event will take place at Cruise Terminal A (Levante dock).

For its part, the Scenic Eclipse II ship, from the Scenic shipping company, will be christened at the Palmeral Terminal this Saturday, June 3. The ship visited the port for the first time in April and now, after a series of exploration voyages to Mediterranean destinations, it will be officially christened.

NASA scientist Kathy Sullivan will be the godmother of the christening of a ship that is 168 meters long and has a capacity to accommodate up to 228 passengers, in addition to having two helicopters and a submarine for personalized excursions.

On the other hand, the Port of Malaga has announced that it wants to adapt docks 4 and 5 for the parking of semi-trailers and trucks at the logistics platforms in the area. The goal is for these spaces to be equipped with everything necessary to serve the new freight transport line between the Andalusian port and Tangier.
