In an initiative to improve port infrastructure, the Port Authority of Malaga (Spain) has plans to open a plot at the bottom of Pier 5 for the parking of semi-trailers and trucks.
Likewise, it is intended to create another parking area at dock 6, specifically from bollards one to ten, dedicated to trucks. To carry out these improvements, it is considered necessary to condition the platform of the Pier 5 plot with a provisional pavement, since it is planned to build the new border control point facilities on the same plot.
It is worth mentioning that the project aims to provide 30 parking spaces for semi-trailers on the plot of dock 5, with direct access from the ro-ro loading facilities of said dock. Likewise, the aim is to segregate the traffic that goes to these parking lots from those that go to the Olistock facilities. To achieve this, an access will be built along the north façade of Olistock using a portion of the railway slab track as a road.
In order to avoid the convergence of traffic, a closure with a prefabricated New Jersey type concrete barrier will be implemented, and the section between the rail tracks of the old cranes will be conditioned, from the ro-ro ramp of dock 4 to the entrance to the logistics platform created on the dock.
It is estimated that the works will have a completion period of two months, a base bidding budget of 279,255.40 euros and an estimated contract value of 230,789.59 euros. Through these improvements, the Malaga enclave will optimize space and traffic organization, contributing to the efficient development of logistics operations.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that the Port of Malaga continues to advance its commitment to sustainability through the Puerto Verde initiative, which offers alternative energies to ships that request this option when docking at the port.
