The Port of Tarragona completes the work of the access road to the ZAL

The Port of Tarragona (Spain) has completed the works on the access road that joins the ZAL with different roads and connection points with the surrounding general road network. Specifically, the new road, whose investment has been 3.3 million euros and has involved fifteen months of work, is 1,300 meters long, with two lanes in each direction and two intermediate roundabouts.

In addition to these works, the Port Authority is working on three other projects in the ZAL of the enclave that influence the new roundabout at the junction between the C-31B, the TV-3146 and the new access to the ZAL, the lower road of the C-31B, the road that connects Tarragona and Salou and that will allow the ZAL to be linked with the road for heavy vehicles that gives access to the A-7, in addition to the diversion of the Vilaseca rainwater drainage channel and the A roads -7, C-31b and TV-3146.

It is worth mentioning that the development of the ZAL of the Catalan enclosure involves the construction of approximately 915,000 m² of surface area and a 20% increase in the space of the port area for the logistics activities of the enclave. The Tarragona port managers estimate that the works will have a positive impact on maritime traffic with a growth of between 2.7 and 4.6 million more tons per year.

Another novelty is that the Port of Tarragona has launched the tender for two unmanned aircraft systems that will be used to optimize safety in surveillance, security and police operations in common areas, the prevention and fight against marine pollution, as well as of emergency prevention and control.
