He port of tarragona (spain) will be the setting for the next ‘IV Rail Day Port Tarragona’, which will be held this Tuesday, April 18. It is an event that will unite both companies and individuals who are interested in rail transport.
The port community, together with service providers and companies, will identify business opportunities to obtain more efficient, competitive and sustainable transport chains.
The event will be attended by more than 200 people, who are registered for this occasion. The hearing will deal with three main themes, the first under the title of ‘Dry Ports’, the second focused on ‘Europe, challenges and opportunities’, and a third theme on ‘Railway news’.
The first block will present two papers focused on the development of dry ports in the Iberian Peninsula, and above all, the progress of the dry port of the port of Tarragona in Guadalajara-Marchamalo will be highlighted.
During the second block, rail connectivity with Europe will be discussed, both the current idiosyncrasies and problems, as well as the future situation, as soon as the standard gauge has been connected with Tarragona.
Lastly, the third block will focus on issues such as the first call for eco-incentives aimed at the railway sector or the development of railway motorways. Likewise, a speaking time has been reserved for those attending the event.
For now, the Tarragona Port Authority has started the bidding process for the second phase of the works on the intermodal terminal in the Marchamalo municipality of Caracas. This project has an initial budget of 26,704,546.73 euros and is expected to be ready by 2024.
