The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (spain) has released its Strategic Plan 2023-2027, in which it determines the strategic lines that it will follow for the sustainable development of ports, competitiveness and sustainability.
Mainly, the objective of the enclave is to create growth opportunities through business development in areas such as bunkering, ship repair, container transshipment and the Blue Economy. Regarding its competitiveness, the Port Authority wants to promote the quality of services and implement a Smart port platform. Moreover, sustainability is addressed in environmental, social, institutional and economic aspects.
Another need for the enclave is for the State to assume the discounts for inter-island traffic, whose financing is mostly covered by the port of Tenerife, which represents a loss of approximately 23 million euros that could be invested in improving services and infrastructure.
It is worth mentioning that the strategic lines are in accordance with the Strategic Framework of State Ports and are divided into thirteen action objectives that promote sustainable development. For example, you want the port to be dedicated to the customer and reliable, connected to smart digital infrastructures, social, innovative, secure and inclusive.
Once this Plan is approved, it will be possible to ensure the direction of the Port Authority and a shared vision of ports that generate wealth for Canarian society will be created.
On the other hand, the Tenerife Free Zone Consortium has announced that it will invest half a million euros for the construction and start-up of a new storage warehouse on the land attached to the free zone in the Tenerife enclave.
