The Port Authority of Valencia (spain) has begun its first dock electrification project, which involves the drafting and execution of the works for the electrical connection to ships for the Transversal de Costa-MSC dock.
So, the procedure for the award of the drafting and execution of the project for the installation of electrical connection to ships and its maintenance begins. In this sense, the drafting of the construction project, execution and maintenance has been launched jointly for 12,468,626.8 euros, VAT included. What’s more, the initiative will be carried out in parallel to the works on the new electrical substation that went out to tender in July with a base budget of almost 11 million euros and an execution period of 24 months.
It is worth mentioning that the joint contracting is carried out taking into account that there are no references in Europe compatible with the ISO/IEC/IEEE 80005 standard and in Spain there is no previous experience of OPS projects in operation with the particularities of this initiative.
The combination of the individual components required for this type of facility, with the electrical supply infrastructures for ships, implies specific projects with complex solutions that have to be designed for each location.
The execution of the construction project, subsidized by the Next Generation funds of the European Union and the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, can be completed on time thanks to the joint tender.
If two contracts are submitted, the one for the execution of the construction project should wait until the one corresponding to the drafting of the project has been awarded, which would result in the completion of the work occurring after the deadline to meet the objective set by Europe.
Apart from this initiative, the works of the Príncipe Felipe dock photovoltaic power plant are nearing completion, with 85% of the structure to fix the panels and 15% of the plates that will provide solar energy to the Port of Valencia starting this fall.
