The Port of Valencia is progressing in the creation of its rail highway

The Port Authority of Valencia (Spain) has made progress in the creation of its new railway motorway with the tender for the remodeling of the rail yard of the East dock of the enclave. This phase has a base budget of 2,998,824.16 euros, excluding VAT, and companies can present their offers until May 8 at 1:00 p.m.

The main objective is the execution of the civil works and necessary installations in order to implement a gantry crane that facilitates the operation of a new combined transport terminal.

The area of action is located in the Dique del Este, close to the embankment, in the area occupied by the railway and the access road to the southern end of the dam, which extends for approximately 740 meters.

The work involves the foundation of the two rails on which the gantry crane will move, as well as the facilities associated with its implementation. Likewise, lighting will be installed in the work area and adjacent and low-voltage areas for power outlets.

Another work to be carried out is the replacement of a series of services affected by the excavation related to the foundation of the rail located next to the current terminals. The expected execution period is six months.

Through this initiative, the aim is to provide the facilities with the infrastructure so that the operators, under a regime of free competition, have the possibility of betting on the exploitation of the railway motorway for the transfer of loads between road-rail modes.

On the other hand, the Port of Valencia has launched a public tender to award a plot located in the provisional parking area next to the Fuente de San Luis station in Valencia, in order to implement a parking lot for heavy vehicles.
