The PP calls for the resignation of the socialist president of the Senate for echoing a hoax from “El País” denied by Brussels

The General Secretary of the Popular Party, Cuca Gamarra, has criticized today “the PSOE’s nervousness” after the director of Political Communication of the European Commission, Dana Spinant, had to come out on top of information published today by the newspaper El Country in which, supposedly, the president of this body, Ursula von der Leyen, would have criticized Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

The article, entitled “Feijóo’s bomb against Feijóo”, signed by Xavier Vidal-Folch, deputy director of the newspaper, affirms that Von der Leyen would have told his team, after a meeting with the president of the PP, “this man has come without ideas, only to dismantle the government of his country”.

The response has not been long in coming and Spinant has been blunt on Twitter: “We categorically deny any statement attributed to President Von der Leyen in this article. This is simply not true and we want to make things clear. The European Commission was never requested a reaction for this article”. In addition to the forcefulness of the response of the deputy spokesperson for the European Commission, the tweet calls attention to the unusual nature of these denials.

Gamarra has insisted that “not everything goes” and, in addition, has charged against the president of the Senate, who has cheered on these alleged statements by the community leader to attack Feijóo. The general secretary of the PP has called for Gil’s resignation “before the Spanish dismiss him”, “if he cares about the institution he presides over”.

The socialist president of the Senate has come out to the rag to the denial of Brussels and does not feel unauthorized, because the denial, he says, “is not to me” and takes the opportunity to charge again against Núñez Feijóo instead of assuming his mistake or apologizing for echo non-existent statements. He simply refers at the end to the comment that the newspaper itself makes of the denial of Brussels: “Now I also echo that note.”
