The PP will try to get the Government to decide in the Congress of Deputies regarding the construction of the last section of the Madrid-Galicia high-speed line, which is part of the external railway variant of Ourense, whose first ten kilometers have been under construction since the beginning of last year. Doubts regarding the intentions of the Ministry of Transport arise from the absence of this section in the planning of the Ourense station, which must be completely completed in 2030 and whose track plans only include the current entrance via the old and sinuous line. conventional single track, adapted for high-speed trains to circulate with a third wire and 25 Kv electrification. There is also no mention of this project in the more than thirty technical references used for the remodeling of the Ourense terminal.

Faced with this situation, the Galician deputies of the PP have just registered a non-legal proposal to try to get the Government to commit to the full execution of the variant and put out to tender the pending subsections, whose projects were completed in 2015.

The content of the proposition is as follows: «The Congress of Deputies urges the Government to confirm that ADIF-Alta Velocity will fully execute all the sections of the outer Ourense variant of the high-speed line to Galicia, and consequently to promote all administrative and budgetary procedures that allow tendering in the first half of 2024 for the works of the pending subsections: Seixalbo-Seixalbo connection; Seixalbo-Montealegre tunnel and Montealegre tunnel-Ourense Station. After the subdelegate of the Government in Ourense announced “upcoming tenders”, government sources limited themselves to later explaining that the pending projects “are under supervision as a prior step to their approval and subsequent bidding.”

The high-speed line would end in a curve like in Angrois if the last section is not built

The PP deputies confirm that from the tender document for the Ourense station “it appears that ADIF-Alta Velocity plans to complete the works in 2030 (after 73 months of execution) and upon completion it will continue to have a single track between Seixalbo and Ourense. “That is to say – they add – it does not contemplate the double entrance track at the station of the three pending subsections of the external variant, so that the high-speed line would be left with a section of sinuous route of seven kilometers and a single mixed track, entered the station also on a curve.

“We are really worried because at the entrance to the last section high speed is not planned,” said deputy Celso Delgado, who fears that the Madrid-Galicia line will end in a single track of seven and a half kilometers with multiple curves.

In the midst of the controversy over the completion of the Madrid-Galicia line, the Government delegate, Pedro Blanco, will visit the works of the adjacent section this Wednesday with a representation from the ADIF.
