Every June 27, Our Lady of Perpetual Help is celebrated, a Marian devotion very dear to Saint Charles (Charles) de Foucauld. This saint made an emotional reflection on this dedication and composed a prayer to ask for his protection.
After several years away from the faith, convert and go through the Trappists. Saint Charles (1858-1916) left everything and went on foot to the Holy Land. There he remained in Nazareth for about three years helped by the convent of the Poor Clares. He was a gardener and created objects for the pilgrims.
According to “Spiritual Family Charles de Foucauld”, in a meditation on June 30, 1897, the holy hermit reflected in Nazareth on the Visitation of Mary, emphasizing that in this mystery She teaches us to enlighten, comfort and care.
In this sense, he asked the “Mother of Perpetual Help”: Grant me the grace “to use my existence in such a way as to do the greatest possible good for Jesus, to glorify Him as much as possible, to do with me what He wants”.
On the other hand, according to the Redemptorist Missionarieshistorical propagators of the Marian devotion of Perpetual Help, San Carlos composed a prayer indicating that he consecrated himself to this dedication.
Likewise, in the text the holy priest recalls how the Virgin has helped and guided him. So, as a child, she asks for his protection and to forever share her love.

My good Mother, Mother of Perpetual Help:
You, to whom I have entrusted and consecrated myself
some years ago,
and how well you have helped me
and so faithfully you have guarded and led me,
