Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, the advisor in charge of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that the present government is committed to meet the fair demands of the workers.

He said this at the end of the courtesy meeting of the International Labor Organization (ILO) delegation in the meeting room of the Ministry of Youth and Sports at the Secretariat on Sunday (September 1).

In the meeting, social protection of workers, employment creation, training of workers, formulation of timely labor laws, reformation of existing labor laws, prohibition of child labor, creation of good work environment were discussed.

At that time, the adviser of the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that necessary reforms will be made in the existing laws related to labor. We need to do more to enforce the law. We want to ensure the creation of a good working environment. The advisor also said that the victims of the Rana Plaza tragedy have complained that they have not received proper compensation. We are also thinking of working on rehabilitation of casualties.

Asif Mahmud said, the new government will work to improve the living standards of the workers, the government is committed to fulfill all the fair demands of the workers. He expressed hope that it will be possible to achieve excellence of the country by working together.

At that time, International Labor Organization (ILO) Country Director Tamo Pautiinen said, International Labor Organization is working with Bangladesh workers, government and employers. Not only does the ILO deal with labor issues, the ILO also works to provide legal assistance to workers and improve institutional standards. He informed that the ILO is working to improve the quality of judicial activities and ensure access to work for all.
