The presentation of the new European Commission, which was expected to take place tomorrow, has been postponed until next week. On September 11, Ursula von der Leyen had to present the composition and structure of the Commission to the President’s Council of the European Parliament in Brussels. Instead of tomorrow, it will happen next week during the EP plenary session in Strasbourg.

The reason is that Slovenia’s candidate for commissioner was changed yesterday and the new candidacy has to be officially approved by the parliament in Ljubljana. This is expected to happen on Friday. Slovenia changed its original candidate, who was a man, to a woman – Marta Kos at the request of Brussels. Ursula von der Leyen is trying to put together a commission in which there is a balance between men and women.

The EC announced that the composition and structure of the new European Commission will be presented next Tuesday in Strasbourg, writes BNT.

Yesterday Von der Leyen sent a letter to acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, in which he wants Bulgaria to officially propose Ekaterina Zaharieva as commissioner.

Our country is the only one that complied with the requirement of the President of the EC to nominate two candidates – one man and one woman.
