the president could call me and talk

“I am really very happy with what the president said yesterday, because I respect the institution of the president, unlike Ingrida Šimonytė and all the conservatives who despise and humiliate that institution, if Gitan Nausėda has questions about my position, he could call me and talk to me”, – on Tuesday The politician spoke to LRT television.

He also added that he believes that it is too early to talk about the ruling majority before the Seimas elections have started.

“I don’t know if someone has already sent this to Gitan Nausėdas, the CEC, or which country, America or Germany, maybe they just have the results of the elections on October 13, because, as you know, they said that in Lithuania, nobody elects us there, and the Americans elect our government. maybe the ballots for October 13 have already been counted, and he knows what the ruling majority is,” said R. Žemaitaitis.

President G. Nausėda said on Monday that the statements of the leader of the “Nemunas Aušra” party about the Jewish people could become an important factor in deciding on the acceptance of this political force into the ruling coalition. In addition, according to him, Lithuania’s strategic partner Germany also has questions about this politician’s statements.

Therefore, the president called on the “Nemunas Aušros” party to deny its earlier statements regarding the Jewish people.

“First of all, I would like this party to use the period that is left before the elections to deny – to deny all those things that it spoke about earlier. It can be done, you can get over yourself and say I was wrong. And this could partially correct the situation. Although, as I already mentioned, things have gone far enough,” he emphasized.

ELTA reminds that the party “Nemunas Aušra” led by R. Žemaitaitis has recently been often mentioned as one of the likely members of the new ruling majority. Such speeches were reinforced by Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, the chairwoman of the Social Democrats, who are considered favorites in the Seimas elections, hinting that she would not rule out the possibility of forming a ruling coalition with Nemunas Aušra.

Such a statement of the social democrat was publicly criticized, emphasizing that the leader of the “Nemunas aushra” party, R. Žemaitaitis, was found by the Constitutional Court to have broken the oath of a member of the Seimas and grossly violated the Constitution due to anti-Semitic statements.

Responding to V. Blinkevičiūtė’s speech, Speaker of the Seimas and head of the Liberal movement, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, stated that she would not see her political strength in a coalition with “Nemunas Aušra”, while Conservative leader Gabrielius Landsbergis called on parties on the left and right of the center to negotiate and thus prevent way to bring radical forces to power.

Seimas elections will be held on October 13 this year.
