In his speech, Antonio Garamendi, who also spoke on behalf of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, placed special emphasis on the importance of public-private collaboration and the determining role of business organizations in continuing to promote and facilitate the internationalization of businesses. He also pointed out that the interest of Spanish companies in the Brazilian market is not only on the part of large companies but also of medium and small ones, which want to expand the market in the country.

Likewise, Antonio Garamendi also highlighted the importance of ratifying the European Union-Mercosur Agreement, which will allow both parties to acquire a greater capacity for interaction, in addition to increasing opportunities and favoring the opening of the Brazilian market.

Likewise, he influenced the joint efforts that have been made during the EU-CELAC Summit and highlighted Brazil’s leadership in the G-20 organization, which it currently presides over.

The Minister of Economy, Commerce and Business, Carlos Body, the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs and G-20, Manuel de la Rocha, and the Secretary of State for Commerce, Xiana Méndez, also participated in the meeting.

At the meeting, they analyzed the existing challenges, as well as the open opportunities in sectors of common interest, such as infrastructure, agribusiness, energy or the environment, among others.

The program of activities in Brazil will continue this Thursday with a business meeting in São Paulo, coordinated by ICEX, in collaboration with CEOE, the Chamber of Spain and the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), among other institutions, which will bring together businessmen from both countries, business institutions and representatives of both Governments.

The objective of the conference is to analyze the possibilities of bilateral collaboration and, in the course of two panels, discuss the Economic Acceleration Program (PAC) and the industrial policy New Industry Brazil. The event will be inaugurated by President Pedro Sánchez and the Minister of Transport of Brazil, Renan Filho.

Meeting with the Brazilian CNI

During his stay in Brazil, Antonio Garamendi will also take the opportunity to meet with the highest representatives of the Brazilian CNI to strengthen business relations and evaluate future common activities, not only on a bilateral level but also within the Ibero-American Business Council.
