Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said President Salome Zurabishvili would leave office on December 29 and expressed doubts about the possibility of any major changes before that date.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Georgian media, he noted that, despite the statements of some European politicians, the radical opposition will not win, and Zurabishvili will not be able to present any serious plans. Kobakhidze also stressed that if the president continues his activities after the end of his term, this may entail criminal liability, since, according to him, the president’s actions aimed at canceling the election results are provided for as a crime in the Criminal Code.
The Georgian Prime Minister also said that the Central Election Commission (CEC) confirmed the legitimacy of the elections, and the Constitutional Court saw no grounds for holding repeat parliamentary elections. Kobakhidze argues that parliament has expressed confidence in the government and there is no need for new elections.
In the evening of the same day, President Salome Zurabishvili plans to address the citizens of the country.
