In a statement to the press, on the sidelines of the opening of the 47th Conference of Arab Police and Security Leaders, organized by Morocco, represented by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in partnership with the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior, Mr. Al-Raisi stressed that Morocco’s hosting of the 93rd session of the Interpol General Assembly and this Conference of Arab leaders of the police and security is eloquent proof that the role played by the Kingdom and the support it provides to efforts to combat transcontinental crime are “useful” and “important”, to the extent that all countries benefit from it.
In this regard, Mr. Al-Raisi noted that the security challenges facing the world, particularly in terms of the fight against all forms of crime, require the establishment of a common security strategy with clear contours which cross-border crime at the center of its priorities and to which all countries in the world contribute.
He also underlined the need to use, in an optimal manner, new technologies in the fight against cross-border crime, especially since many criminal gangs use technology, stressing that training and rigorous use of technologies is the key to stopping criminal activities.
The opening ceremony of this Conference took place in the presence of the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Secretary General of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior, the President of the Naif Arab University of Security Sciences (NAUSS), and police and security leaders from 20 Arab countries and 6 international and regional organizations.
This two-day event brings together senior security officials from several Arab countries, as well as representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Interpol, the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, the United Nations Office United Against Drugs and Crime, the African Union Police Cooperation Mechanism (Afripol), the European Union Law Enforcement Training Agency (Europol), the Naif Arab University of security sciences and the Arab Sports Police Union (USAP) as well as several other organizations.
