Morocco has been able to reach a very important level in terms of decentralization, as evidenced by the operation of delegation of prerogatives to municipal, provincial and regional authorities, which work to achieve sustained development, with a view to meeting the needs of the population. local, he observed.

In this wake, he expressed his country’s desire to benefit from the Moroccan experience, for a better implementation of the decentralization policy in Burundi.

Furthermore, the President of the Burundian Senate recalled that the Republic of Burundi and the Kingdom of Morocco are linked by solid relations of cooperation, friendship and fraternity.

For his part, the President of the House of Advisors, Enaam Mayara stressed that the visit of the President of the Burundian Senate to Laâyoune is part of the strengthening of bilateral relations and the memorandum of understanding signed between the legislative institution and the Burundian Senate.

This visit allowed the President of the Burundian Senate to see first-hand the development efforts made in the region as part of the new development model for the southern provinces, launched by HM King Mohammed VI, continued Mr. Mayara, recalling that In his speech on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Green March, the Sovereign emphasized the level of achievement of development projects in these provinces.

This visit also reflects the reality of socio-economic development in the southern provinces of the Kingdom, insisted Mr. Mayara, adding that this effort constitutes a source of pride and satisfaction for the inhabitants of the Moroccan Sahara.

Accompanied by the Consul General of the Republic of Burundi, Ndagijimana Benjamin, members of the Burundian parliamentary delegation visited the large-scale projects completed and those in progress to learn about the quality of educational, sporting, cultural and socio-economic infrastructures. -economic and health aspects falling within the framework of the development model of the southern provinces.

These are projects relating to the construction of the hospital and university center, the faculty of medicine and pharmacy, the City of Trades and Skills, the sports village, the sports hall, the Olympic swimming pool, the municipal media library and the Research center under the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, as well as the phosphate port and the seawater desalination station.

Earlier during the day, the Burundian parliamentary delegation held a meeting with the president of the Laâyoune Municipal Council, Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid.
