32-year-old Darius Sadeckas, who previously contributed to the emergence of amateur basketball teams, will try to bring basketball to its former heights in the city of Alytus.
The 32-year-old creator of the idea of the “Alytaus” club communicated with the portal alytausnaujienos.ltwhere he explained how the idea of bringing basketball back to the city of Dzūkija came about.
“Everything happened very quickly and practically spontaneously. We always wanted a team, but we did not believe that we would do it in Alytus. We managed to reach an agreement with the city municipality, so we founded a club here, which we are happy about,” said D. Sadeckas.
D. Sadeckas also added that the “Alytaus” team already has three sponsors, while the general sponsor and other partners are still being sought.
The president of the “Alytaus” club was also asked about the connections with T. Pacės, who was previously associated with the city’s basketball, and D. Sadeckas gave a peculiar answer.
“Absolutely not. I don’t know him”, said D. Sadeckas.
The Dzūkija club has already signed several new players, including Martynas Pacevičius, Juozas Balčiūnas, Lukas Kazlauskas, Malek Davis and the captain of the Armenian national team Alberts Tatevosyan.
