On the occasion of the closing of the 28th edition of FESPACO on March 4, 2023, the Etalon d’Or de Yennenga went to the film “Ashkal”, by Tunisian Youssouf Chebbi.
Some Burkinabè hoped that the prestigious trophy would go to their compatriot Appoline Traoré, with her film “Sira”, but she was rewarded with the Silver Stallion of Yennenga.
Dora Bouchoucha, president of the jury explained that the process which led to the choice of the film brings together political considerations, entertainment and cinematographic creativity.
“In the three Stallions, there is all that, but the one that had more creativity, more cinematographic talent, is the film Ashkal”she hinted.
We remember that the film “Sira” sold out at Ciné Nerwaya and Ciné Burkina, during FESPACO 2023.
