The President of the National Assembly of Senegal reiterates his country’s firm support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara

Mr. Diop, who was speaking at the end of his talks with the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, on a working visit to Senegal at the head of a large parliamentary delegation, added that the two countries have a convergence of views on international issues of common interest.

He praised the leadership role of HM King Mohammed VI in strengthening bilateral relations, expressing his deep gratitude to HM the King for the interest that the Sovereign grants to the development of bilateral relations, as evidenced by the 8 official visits made by the Sovereign to this country and His historic speech delivered in Dakar in 2016 on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Green March.

For his part, Mr. Talbi El Alami stressed that this is the first visit of a President of the House of Representatives to the National Assembly of Senegal, welcoming the warm welcome given, on this occasion, to the Moroccan parliamentary delegation by the Senegalese deputies.

In this regard, he highlighted the historical and fraternal relations that unite the two peoples.

Regarding the national cause, the President of the House of Representatives praised Senegal’s constant position supporting the Moroccanness of the Sahara.

The Moroccan parliamentary delegation is composed of Mr. Ahmed Touizi, President of the Authenticity and Modernity Group, Abderrahim Chahid, President of the Socialist Group -Ittihadi Opposition-, Chaoui Belassal, President of the Democratic and Social Constitutional Group, and Rachid Hamouni, President of the Progress and Socialism Group.

These talks took place in the presence of HM the King’s ambassador to Senegal, Hassan Naciri.

This working visit was marked by the signing of a parliamentary cooperation protocol between the House of Representatives and the National Assembly of Senegal.
