The President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muften, confirmed the readiness of Iraq, and the capital, Baghdad, to host Arab and continental meetings, and organize Arab and Asian championships. This came during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Saudi Arab Handball Federation, Fakhir Gashi, in his private office.
Muftin said in a statement received by the (INA): “Iraq and the capital, Baghdad in particular, are ready to host Arab and continental meetings, and organize Arab and Asian championships, especially after the recent successes recorded by Iraqi sports in terms of organizing championships and gatherings in light of the security and stability that it enjoys.” It includes the capital, Baghdad, and various governorates of Iraq.
Muften listened to the speech of the Secretary-General of the Arab Handball Federation, Fakher Gashi, which focused on Iraq’s hosting of the Arab Championship, which will be hosted by the capital, Baghdad, during the month of July of this year, as well as the General Assembly meeting of the Arab Handball Federation, which will also be held in Baghdad next May, with the participation of 21 countries. .
