Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a conversation he had with Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Kristerson that he sees “mutual interest in driving a situation in which terrorist organizations hijack Sweden’s request to be accepted as a member of the NATO organization, and the bilateral negotiations.” As mentioned, Turkey previously expressed opposition to Sweden joining NATO, and accuses it of giving asylum to elements considered terrorists. These are Kurdish militants, and people accused of being involved in the coup attempt in 2016
