President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban discussed further expansion of multifaceted cooperation on the sidelines of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG) in the city of Shusha.

As reported on Saturday by Day.Az with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, the meeting noted the consistent development of strategic partnership and practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary.

The parties noted that in recent years, trade turnover between the two countries has almost doubled, the number of joint projects and enterprises is growing, and direct flights between Tashkent and Budapest were resumed on June 30.

The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Hungary paid special attention to accelerating the implementation of cooperation projects in the fields of industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics, construction and other areas, and also emphasized the importance of preparing a new portfolio of investment projects and holding a joint Forum of Regions in the city of Kokand by the end of this year.

Another topic of the meeting was the intensification of cooperation in the fields of education, culture and sports, where the need for holding mutual cultural events aimed at bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together was noted.

In addition, the parties also exchanged views on current issues of cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States and the European Union.

It should be noted that on July 6, an informal summit of the UTC is taking place in Shusha. It will serve as a platform for high-level discussions of key issues and the organization’s agenda.
