On Monday (August 19), the second working day of the week, the traffic pressure on the capital’s roads increased significantly. The movement of people has increased as educational institutions have opened and offices, courts and business establishments have started operations in full swing. On the other hand, various organizations and professionals are holding protest rallies and sit-in programs on the streets for various demands after the change in the political pot. As a result, traffic congestion has occurred in many parts of the capital.
Rampura, Mouchak, Farmgate, Vijay Sarani, Karwan Bazar, Bangla Motor, Siddheshwari, Motijheel and other important points have seen traffic jams. Traffic jams were seen across the capital on the first day of the week on Sunday.
The sit-in program was observed by blocking roads in different areas of the capital. Paltan, Secretariat, National Press Club, Matsya Bhavan, Shahbagh, Bangla Motor, Caravan Bazar area were visited, Shahbag Mor, National Press Club and various demands including nationalization of jobs, elimination of discrimination, stop of irregularities and corruption in various institutions, removal of corrupt officials and employees. Various organizations and forums and deprived professionals held meetings in front of the secretariat. Midwives and nurses held a human chain and protest march in front of the National Press Club on the 17-point demand. Women volunteers under the Directorate of Family Planning protested at the same place demanding nationalization of jobs. Some other organizations can be seen in the movement.
Members of Village Police, BCS Fisheries Cadre Officers, Extension Officers (Fisheries) of NATP-2 under Directorate of Fisheries, Kalyan Forum, Bangladesh Family Planning Voluntary (Women) Demand Implementation Council, National Women’s Organization, Women and Child Affairs held a rally and protest in front of the Secretariat on various demands. Traffic congestion is seen on both sides of the road in front of Yamuna Future Park. Roads near Pragati Sarani and Kuril also witnessed heavy traffic. It has spread to other roads in the capital.
As the activities of all educational institutions have started fully from Sunday, the pressure of students and working people has increased. Meanwhile, the passengers of that route have to travel by bus as the metro rail service is stopped. Passengers have to be stuck at the same place for a long time due to massive traffic jam. As a result, the people of Dhaka have to bear unbearable suffering.
