The prestigious lawyer Manuel Enerio Rivas Estévez (Niño) has died in the city of Santo Domingo at the age of 93, as a result of health conditions that he had suffered for some time.
His remains are veiled in the La Paz chapel, of the Blandino Funeral Home, on Abraham Lincoln Avenue, and will receive a Christian burial tomorrow, Tuesday, August 8, in the Puerta del Cielo cemetery, after the procession that will depart at 3:00 on the afternoon.
Dr. Rivas Estévez was trustee of the municipality of Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez province, and of the municipality of Sánchez, Samaná province. He also served as an inspector of the Dominican Municipal League, in Santo Domingo, a function that entailed the supervision of the country’s municipalities.
More recently, he directed the Legal and Commercial Office that bears his name, from where he gave free advice to young lawyers, with his peculiar enthusiasm and style.
He was the brother of Ms. Patria Rivas, founder of the Patria Rivas medical laboratory chain, and of Napoleón Estévez (deceased), also a lawyer, who was a justice of the peace of the First Jurisdiction and of the Second Criminal Chamber of Santo Domingo.
His death mourns his sister, his children, Dardo, Lilian (Lily), Iván, Manuel Elías, Giselle, Liz, Manuel Enerio, Miguel and Máximo, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
