The weighted average price (taking into account the occupied market share – Vedomosti) of a new passenger car in Russia at the end of August 2021 amounted to 2.14 million rubles, the analytical agency Avtostat calculated. This is 21% more than at the beginning of the year. According to the agency’s estimates, in June the weighted average price was more than 1.8 million rubles, in July it already exceeded 1.9 million rubles. Prices are rising in the wake of a shortage of cars at dealerships caused by a global shortage of microchips and high demand from potential buyers, explains Avtostat.
According to the executive director of Avtostat, Sergei Udalov, there has been no such dynamics of price growth during the calendar year in the entire history of observations since 2014.
