The price of gold has reached the highest level in the history of the country. Now one lakh 27 thousand 942 taka has to be calculated to buy gold of good quality i.e. 22 carats. In such a situation, the central bank has announced to increase the price of commemorative gold coins. The price of each coin has been increased by 10 thousand taka and revised to 1 lakh 15 thousand taka, which was till now 1 lakh five thousand taka.
Bangladesh Bank said that this price has been increased due to the increase in the price of gold in the international and local markets. The new price will be effective from Sunday (September 1).
According to the Central Bank, the price of Bangladesh Bank’s commemorative gold coins printed on ‘International Mother Language Day-2000’, ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary 1920-2020’ and ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021’ has been revised. The commemorative gold coins (with box) of 10 grams weight made of 22 carat gold titled ‘International Mother Language Day-2000’, ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary 1920-2020’ and ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021’ (with box) are sold at Tk 1 lakh 15 thousand each. has been rescheduled.
Earlier, on July 16, Bangladesh Bank announced a hike in gold prices, which was effective from July 18.
In addition, there are currently 11 commemorative fine silver coins in the market. These include ‘Silver Jubilee’ of Bangladesh Independence-1996, ‘Bangladesh Bank Silver Jubilee-1996’, ‘Inauguration of Bangabandhu Bridge-1998’, ‘Bangladesh’s 40th Victory Anniversary’, ’90 Years of Revolutionary Poetry’, ‘Rabindranath Tagore’s 100th Birth Anniversary-2011′, ICC Cricket World Cup-Bangladesh 2011’, ‘Bangladesh National Museum Centenary 1913-2013’, ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary’, ‘Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021’ and ‘Bangladesh-Japan Diplomatic Relations 50 Years’ are coins. These silver commemorative coins weigh from 20 grams to 31.47 grams. The price of these commemorative silver coins is six thousand rupees.
Meanwhile, on August 25, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced a hike in gold prices, effective from August 26. According to that price, the price of best quality or 22 carat (11.664 grams) gold is 1 lakh 27 thousand 942 taka, 21 carat is 1 lakh 22 thousand 122 taka, 18 carat is 1 lakh 4 thousand 684 taka and Sanatan Gold is being sold at Tk 86 thousand 547 per system.
